Welcome to the tenth conference of the Nordic network for research in L1 education (NNFF10) at the Danish School of Education, Aarhus University, Copenhagen Campus, 3–4 December 2025.
The theme of the conference is School subject, student, world: new relationships? This theme embraces exploration and reflection on first language education in a changing world. For example, do phenomena such as the climate crisis, inequality, war, mobility and digitalisation reinforce or require a rethinking of the relationship between L1 education and the world? How does this affect our understanding of and approach to the student's role in teaching and their opportunities for personal development, formation and Bildung? Which theories can help us explore the theme and what needs further study? We welcome contributions that address the conference theme, but also invite contributions of broader relevance to L1 education research.
Keynote speakers are Professor Emerita Cathy Burnett, Sheffield Hallam University, and Associate Professor Helle Pia Laursen, Aarhus University.
The conference will take place at the Danish School of Education, Aarhus University's campus in Copenhagen, Denmark. A pre-conference for PhD students will take place Tuesday 2 December 2025.
The conference languages are Danish, Swedish and Norwegian, but presentations in English are also welcome, in line with the network's language policy.
